The man who dazzled basketball fans with his crazy suits and sideline interviews has made an incredible comeback.
Craig Sager’s doctor Naveen Pemmaraju says that what the legendary sports reporter has done to battle cancer has been “almost miraculous.”
Sager was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia two years ago. He’s since gone through two bone marrow transplants, 21 bone marrow biopsies, and 20 chemotherapy cycles. During his recovery from said procedures, Sager overcame pneumonia, the flu, a bacterial infection, and even gout!
It was a tough year for the sportscaster, he announced just last month that his cancer was no longer in remission.
But you wouldn’t know that seeing Craig as the face of Sports Illustrated‘s May issue, or watching him continue to cover the NBA like a champ. He even plans to cover the Olympics for the fifth consecutive time this year.
Now, that is awesome!
